The world has a number of mysteries hidden within its folds. One such place is the Mount Roraima in Venezuela. This island although has a number of tepeis or flat top mountains that belong to the old geological periods, yet the most famous of all these mountain is the Mount Roraima. That is exactly why the name: Mt Roraima.
This mountain was formed by sandstone which has been dated back to 1.8 billion years. The flora and fauna found here is quite rich. Since the climate here is pretty conducive to the plantations there is a most unique variety of such flora and fauna here. It is believed that this land contains a lost river of gold. This has been the object of interest of many search parties and the like.
British botanist Everard Im Thurn’s climb up to the summit made the place quite popular which further inspired Arthur Conan Doyle to make a mention of Mt Roraima in his fiction ‘The Lost World’.
